The role of the banking system of the European Union in achieving economic growth for the period 2010-2020

Résumé

The views of economic analysts differed on the special importance of financial mediation in supporting the investment process, which is the beating heart of economic growth, which is represented by the banking system, as it provides funds for credit, as emphasized by Gold Smith (2010), and it should be noted that the economist Schumpeter emphasized that the integrated banking system enhances and supports The process of economic growth, including the funds it provides for lending, and it is worth noting that Patrick emphasized the role played by the banking system in supporting economic growth by providing banking services such as accepting deposits and financing investments with the necessary funds.

Our research aims to explain the role played by the banking system in its various indicators in the economic growth of the European Union. The data available in the World Bank were used in order to reach the results. The statistical program STATA was used. Several results were reached, including that according to the Pearson correlation, there is a statistically significant relationship Between bank credit, deposits, and credit provided to the government, and the gross domestic product, which represents the economic growth of the European Union. In economic growth and gross domestic product, as well as interest in empirical studies on the relationship between financial development and economic growth, to measure the financial development occurring in developing and developed countries and to study the effects that result in achieving more growth in the overall economy and gross domestic product.
