Iraq has suffered from many crises over the past decades that have increased the difficulty of banking work. As a result of the importance of strategic planning and the emphasis of previous studies on its role in facing crises, the current study aims to clarify and define the role and importance of strategic planning in facing crises and adapting to them, and to analyze the degree and ability of banks to adopt the concepts of strategic planning and apply them to face multiple crises. The research relied on the descriptive analytical approach, and a tool was designed and distributed to 125 administrators working in the branches of the Iraqi Commercial Bank. After analysis, the research reached the following results: There is a role for strategic planning in adapting to crises in Iraqi commercial banks. There is a good degree of influence for the five components of strategic planning (vision, objectives, mission, strategic choice, strategic analysis) in raising the bank's ability to adapt to the crises it faces. In addition, many conclusions and recommendations were reached that, if taken into account, could contribute to developing banking work and adapting to successive crises.
